Barry Hearn’s Prizefighter Heavyweights III boxing competition is generating vast amounts of interest and is being used by many of the participants as a springboard to bigger and better things in the world of boxing.

The event, which is scheduled for Friday 2nd October, had to be switched from the 1100 capacity York Hall in Bethnal Green to the 5000 capacity Excel Arena in London’s Docklands, due to ticket demands.

Some of the biggest names in the Heavyweight division at domestic level will be participating; the list includes reigning British Champion Danny Williams and the Olympic Games champion from Sydney 2000, Audley Harrison. Also featuring will be Michael Sprott, Scott Gammer and Michael Holden, who have all captured the British title during their respective professional careers.

The draw for the £32,000 top prize event was conducted by American Heavyweight legend, Mike Tyson in Las Vegas. The draw sees fierce rivals Audley Harrison and Danny Williams meet in the final. This would be the third time in their careers that they have fought each other, after winning one contest each.

Audley Harrison has discussed on the competitions official website that if he wins the prize fighter crown he can go on to world title honours. Harrison freely admitted that he has not fulfilled his potential in the professional ranks but is ready fulfil his ambitions.

Harrison said “I had plans to be the Heavyweight Champion of the World in four or five years and it has not gone the way I wanted but ultimately I still believe I’m going to achieve that goal,” I’m probably the greatest amateur boxer ever from Britain and won two National Championships, a Commonwealth Championship and am an Olympic Champion. I achieved most of the titles that are out there as an amateur but as a professional I haven’t achieved yet.

To win the competition Audley Harrison and Danny Williams are evens. Scott Gammer is 10/1 while Coleman Barrett and Danny Hughes are 20/1. Carl Baker and Scott Belshaw are 40/1. Odds supplied by Sky Bet.
