Pacquiao vs. Cotto Preview

29th October, 2009

With just over two weeks until fight night, boxing superstars Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto are getting ready for what many observers in the boxing world believe could be the fight of the year.

The two knockout specialists will clash on Saturday November 14th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas for Cotto’s WBO welterweight championship of the world.

Considered by many as pound for pound the best in the world, the lightning quick Pacquiao is coming off sensational back to back victories over multi-time world champions Oscar De La Hoya and Ricky Hatton.

Puerto Rican, Miguel Cotto, will represent the most formidable challenge to Pacquiao thus far due to his physical advantages, experience and warrior spirit. Cotto is coming off two back to back victories after losing his unbeaten record in controversial circumstances last year to Antonio Margarito.

Although both fighters are technically gifted, they never take a backward step and like to slugfest. At a recent press conference Cotto was quoted as saying “People talk about fights between Leonard and Duran, Hagler and Hearns. I know with this fight people are going to remember this fight for many years.”

Pacquiao told Sky Sports "I feel I'm in 100 per cent condition and I'm excited for the fight. I can't wait for November 14. I'm looking forward to a good fight because our styles are kind of similar."

The key to the fight is whether or not Pacquiao can handle Cotto’s strength and if Cotto control Pacquiao’s speed. Prepare for fireworks!

To win the fight Pacquiao is 1/2 with Betfred, while Cotto is 7/4 with Betclick.
