Over The Rainbow Online Betting Odds

6th April, 2010

It seems that Jessica Robinson is the one to beat in early online betting odds for the winner of the BBC’s Over the Rainbow, which is a talent contest, aired each weekend to find the latest West End starlet for the role of Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz.

The 18 year old Middleborough teenager has received rave reviews from the judges on the first live show after wowing audience with her version of Amy Winehouse’s hit song, Rehab.

"That's a pop song that is very difficult to make into a theatre song and you did it," beamed Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber. "You've got all of the wit that you could possibly have; it's in your eyes. I know it was maybe not the best vocal performance but, for me, that's what I want to see in the theatre - I want to see somebody who can take the stage. Let's not forget, Judy Garland didn't have the best vocal range and we're looking for someone who can communicate what we want from a stage and it's got to be either from the heart or with wit."

John Partridge echoed Andrew’s praise, "You took a contemporary song and you made it musical theatre and you're the first girl to do that, so should be commended for that."

An impressed Charlotte Church added: "You have not got one of the most natural voices but I didn't care because that was unbelievable - I couldn't stop watching you, brilliant."

Odds for Jessica to be handed the ruby red slippers at the end of the series are at 5/2 with William Hill. Danielle Hope is at 11/2 with Coral and Stephanie Davis is also backed at 11/2 with Sky Bet
