Online betting odds for Jenson Button and the Grand Prix
2nd October, 2009
This weekend presents Jenson Button his first opportunity to wrap up the Formula 1 Drivers World Championship at Suzuka in Japan. With 3 races remaining, the Brawn GP driver is 15 points ahead of his closest championship rival and team mate Rubens Barrichello, with Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull, the only other driver mathematically in the hunt, a further 10 points back.
However, Red Bull will be strong, as the long fast corners that characterise Suzuka lend it to them whilst so far this season the Brawn’s have struggled. This was reflected on Friday when Brawn chose to sit out a severely rain effected Practice 2 and Vettel finished 2nd fastest. If, as expected, Button cannot wrap up the title this weekend he will have to wait until Brazil on 18th October for his next chance.
Defending world champion Lewis Hamilton, having finished on the podium in 3 out of the last 5 races, will also have something to say about the result as his late season revival is expected to continue, supported by McLaren’s announcement expressing their target to finish 3rd in the Constructors Title ahead of fierce rivals Ferrari.
Alongside the expected merry-go-round of driver moves in the winter, following the announcement of Alonso’s long awaited move to Ferrari, there will be plenty of drivers with a point to prove.
Sky Bet are offering all the latest odds which include Vettel is 11/4 to win, Hamilton 3/1, Barrichello 9/1 and Button 11/1.
Odds where the title will be decided are 13/2 Japan, 2/5 Brazil and ll/4 Abu Dhabi.
