Norwich Confirm Roeder as Manager
30th October, 2007
Norwich City have today confirmed that former Newcastle United boss Glen Roeder has signed a two-and-a-half year contract to manage the club. The Carrow Road club has been searching for a new manager since the removal of Peter Grant, and Roeder will now push previous caretaker manager Jim Duffy out of the club.
Since leaving Newcastle in May 2007, Roeder has been out of football and linked with various jobs, including a director of football role at Arsenal, but now finds himself charged with pulling Norwich away from the relegation zone.
Roger Munby told the club's official website: "After a lengthy and diligent search I'm more than delighted to confirm that Glenn Roeder is the board's unanimous choice as the next Norwich City manager. We discussed the current position of the club and team with him at length and I'm thrilled that he has joined us."
Norwich are currently favourites to be relegated this season from the Championship, at 10/11. QPR (11/8), Blackpool (9/4) and Colchester United (9/4) are all tipped to face a battle to stay in the division.
