Newcastle v Man Utd Betting Preview
22nd February, 2008
At 5:15pm on Saturday Newcastle host Manchester United who are 30 points ahead of them. With Arsenal favourites against near-bottom Birmingham, this is an important game for Man Utd if they want to stay in contention for the title.
The last time the two sides clashed, back in December, Newcastle lost at an embarrassing scoreline of 6-0. Kevin Keegan's arrival at Newcastle has not proved successful so far with a run of disappointing performances, most recently against Aston Villa when they lost it all in the second half (4-1). The Newcastle defence has been their main concern recently and, with the likes of Rooney and Ronaldo on field, they are unlikely to hold out.
With Man Utd in such good form they will be expecting nothing less than a win, especially after defeating league leaders Arsenal in the FA Cup. Newcastle have several players that, when in form, could concern the Man Utd defence. Among these are Michael Owen, who has been struggling to find goals, and Damien Duff. Both will be hoping to grasp a win at home this weekend.
Man Utd, in such brilliant form, have been priced today as the odds-on favourites for the win at 4/9 (VC Bet), meanwhile Newcastle have been given unencouraging odds of 11/2 (Better) to pull off the first win of Keegan's Newcastle career.
BGbet are, this time, offering to refund all losing correct score bets on Newcastle v Man Utd match if the game somehow finishes in a 0-0 draw.
