Newcastle Slump to Defeat
18th September, 2007
New Derby signing Kenny Miller scored his first goal for the club in a 1-0 win over Newcastle United. The 38th minute strike was enough to take all three points and move Billy Davies’ team off the bottom spot. The result was also Newcastle’s first league defeat this season. Although the better team in the second half, they never really threatened the equaliser. Newcastle now drop to 10th with a game in hand, and Derby move above Bolton in 19th.
A lacklustre Newcastle saw in-form Michael Owen substituted on 55 minutes as a precautionary measure. Newcastle manager Sam Allardyce is being extra cautious with his upcoming three games in six days.
Billy Davies is 4/1 to be the next manger to be sacked with Paddy Power.
