Nemanja Vidic to head to Real Madrid

6th January, 2010

After this weekends performance at Old Trafford which saw Manchester united get knocked out of the FA Cup by Leeds, it would seem that the team should be doing all they can to hold on to their best performing players.

However, it has been reported that Nemanja Vidic will be meeting with his agent to discuss his future, as it appears he may not be at Old Trafford much longer.

The likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona have no hesitation of taking on some of the best players in the world as they are prepared to pay almost any fee to ensure they can secure the deal. There have been rumours that both Spanish clubs are interested in getting their hands on Vidic and only time will tell what his next moves will be.

Stealing all the attention at the Player of the Year ceremony for his performances with Manchester United last season, Vidic is desired by many and bookies are beginning to doubt that Sir Alex Ferguson will hold on to the defender.

Online bookies Sky Bet are offering 11/8 that Vidic follows in Ronaldo’s footsteps and heads to Spain and 4/7 that he stays at Old Trafford.

A spokesman from Sky Bet explained, “After losing Ronaldo last season, Fergie is now facing the potential loss of another key player to Real Madrid and Vidic’s absence from last Sunday’s FA Cup match only fuels rumours that a move is on the cards.”

Tonight sees Manchester United take on Manchester City in the Carling Cup semi-final and United are backed at 4/1 to win the game and are priced at 7/4 favourites to win the Carling Cup title.

Other odds for tonight’s game include how many changes Fergie will make to his team that played on Sunday and lost. Sky Bet are offering 5/6 that he will change seven or more players.
