NFL: Giants Win Wembley Clash
29th October, 2007
In a historic game for the NFL, the New York Giants proved too strong for the Miami Dolphins, as they played out the first regular-season game outside of North America at Wembley Stadium.
The relentless rain made conditions difficult for a high-scoring football game, as some easier passes that should have been caught were put on the turf. Eli Manning threw a disappointing 59 yards, but redeemed by rushing to score Giants' only touchdown. At 13-0 going into the second half, Dolphins rarely looked like threatening to make points, but some a field goal and late pressure saw a good take from Ginn push the Dolphins' points up to 10. The Giants were able to wind the clock down to finish the game at 13-10.
Players, coaches and officials had nothing but good words to say of the event, which may be repeated yearly if the UK branch of NFL gets their way. There is even talk of a Superbowl outside of America, as early as 2011. The Giants are now 20/1 with Bet 365 to win the Superbowl this year, but it is widely expected to be played out between the New England Patriots (11/10) and the Indianapolis Colts (7/2), who have 8-0 and 7-0 records so far this season. All odds are provided by Bet 365.
