Murray through to last eight of Dubai Championships
6th March, 2008
Andy Murray is through to the last eight of the Dubai Championships after a shaky win over Fernando Verdasco. Following up on his impressive victory over Roger Federer earlier this week, he will now face fifth seed Davydenko in the quarter-finals.
The first set came down to a single break in the sixth game, which Murray then won 6-3. The British number one then struggled with is serve as he let Verdasco back into the game and break another game to take the second set 6-3. The final set came down to a tie-break which Murray won 7-5 to progress to the next round.
Murray will play Davydenko today (Thursday), for which the Scot is favourite at 9/10 (best odds with Party Bets). Davydenko is a best priced 31/20 with Sporting Bet to win the match. Murray remains the second favourite to win the tournament behind Djokovic.
