Murray set for third-round Djokovic clash

23rd April, 2008

British number one Andy Murray dominated Filipo Volandri in his second-round tie 6-4 6-1. He will now face world number three Novak Djokovic in the third round at the Monte Carlo Masters.

It took a while for the Scot to find his feet, getting the first break of service in the 10th game to take the first set. Murray then took advantage of Volandri’s collapsing game, his backhand causing most of the problems. It was the first time in the 20-year-old’s career that he has won two games in a row on clay, which he will be boosted by. He will however, need to pick up his game even further if he is to beat the number three seed.

The match will take place tomorrow at 3.00pm BST. Djokovic is the big favourite to progress, at 5/2 on at Better Bet, and the best odds on Murray even out at 2/5. Murray has now moved from 120/1 earlier this week down to 33/1 to win the Monte Carlo Masters. Track and find the best Monte Carlo Masters odds using our odds comparison service.
