Murray Massacre in Moscow
11th October, 2007
Andy Murray has lost in the second round of the Kremlin Cup in Moscow to Janko Tipsarevic in straight sets. Vicotry over the world number 18 sends him to the quarter-finals, and takes revenge after losing to the 20 year-old last week in Metz.
Murray began poorly, failing to find a single break-point in the opening set, whereas his opponent managed seven. Tipsarevic only managed to convert one of these, but that was enough of an advantage to take the opening set.
Murray looked lively in the second set, but failed to convert chances to break in Tipsarevic’s two opening service games, but took the opportunity third time around. At 5-3 up, it looked as if Murray would take it to a deciding set, but four straight games to Tipsarevic saw Murray taking an early trip home.
