Monday Night Football

5th December, 2008

Monday night could see the most important game in the NFC South Division this season. Carolina Panthers play host to Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the Bank of America Stadium NC. The Panthers currently boast the same record as the Bucs of 9 and 3, however are below them due to their defeat the first time these teams lined up against one another.

The Buccaneer’s defence is as good as any defence in the NFL at the moment, even though Barrett Rudd middle linebacker won’t be getting any press, he’s the just the kind of player who could dominate from the linebacker position.

Though it would not to be right to say that the Carolina Panthers are slouches, their D has shown some cracks in their win over Green Bay, just edging it at 35-31. This recent dip in the Panthers defensive performance has puzzled and worried fans, which aren’t used to them letting opponents get so close on the score board.

Even with the Panthers coming up against such an impressive D line they are still the favourites with home advantage.

Both Bet 365 and Betfair believe the panthers to be eventual winners.

Bet 365

Panthers -3 at 5/6

Bucs +3 at 1/1

Betfair

Panthers at 1.58/1

Bucs at 2.62/1

As the race for playoff positions begins to get hotter, my prediction is even without home field advantage the Bucs will secure a narrow win over the Panthers. Their current 4 wins streak vs Carolina’s 2 wins, will be enough to give them the mental edge in what looks to be a close game.
