Midweek Premier League Preview
19th March, 2008
This evening sees the two title favourites in action, as Manchester United host Bolton, and Chelsea make the trip across London to face Tottenham Hotspur.
After a run of three games scoring only two goals, finding the net is the main area of concern for Ferguson. The table-toppers struggled to see off rock-bottom Derby County at the weekend, but will be more confident of putting a number past Bolton this evening. After an impressive debut, Ben Foster is tipped to keep his place in goal with van der Sar still hampered by a groin problem. A win for United will see them stretch their lead in the Premiership to three points above Arsenal.
Man United are far too slim to back at 1/6, whilst Bolton are as long as 21/1 to take all three points this evening. Even the draw is out as far as 6/1 with Bet 365.
Chelsea will be looking to keep the pressure on the top two as they travel to Tottenham. A win for the Blues would not only go some way to avenging their Carling Cup defeat, but also put them level on points with Arsenal and a maximum of three points behind Man United depending on their result this evening. Some have predicted that the match will be easy for Chelsea as Spurs have already qualified for Europe and effectively have nothing left to play for in the Premier League this season. However boss Juande Ramos has laid the challenge down saying the squad are playing for their places next season.
Despite being at home, Spurs are 3/1 to take the three points this evening and are likely to be popular at this price. Chelsea are at evens or slightly better whilst the draw is at best odds of 12/5 according to our odds comparison service.
