Middlesborough v Sheffield United Preview and Odds

26th February, 2008

After a disappointing 0-0 draw between Middlesborough and Sheffield United they are set for a replay tomorrow night in the FA Cup 5th Round.

Middlesborough, who in their last eight meetings have only won once against Sheffield Utd, have not actually lost at home in this cup for over ten years. They go into this game full of confidence following a run of 5 games unbeaten. Sheffield themselves have not been beaten in 6, although every one of these has been a draw. This shows that Middlesborough are going to have to concentrate hard on their attacking form to avoid another draw.

The quarter final, set for the beginning of March, will see the winner of this match play Cardiff City. The other teams at this stage of the competition are: Manchester United and Portsmouth, Barnsley and Chelsea, and Bristol Rovers and West Brom.

This is a massive game for both clubs as the chance of Cup victory is in sight. Also, the winner will receive £120,000 from the FA.

Up to date odds for this game and other matches are available on our odds comparison page but here’s today’s best odds: Middlesborough are clear favourites to beat their lower league rivals with odds of 8/13 (VC Bet). A draw, a fairly likely outcome judging from the first match is at 13/5 (Bet365) and for Sheffield Utd to pull off a win against Boro the odds are 11/2 (Bet365).
