Martin Jol's last game ends in disaster
26th October, 2007
Getafe beat Spurs 2-1 in a match where Jol stood strong in the dug outs despite the rumours of his being sacked circulating the stadium.
Jermain Defoe's early goal was overturned by 2 goals by the Spanish side. Slack defending and low moral contributed to the London side's defeat. A header was disallowed by the ref as Defoe was found to be offside.
The rumours were confirmed last night when Tottenham Chairman released a statement "For me, Martin and Chris, departure is regrettable." Assistant boss, Chris Hughton had also been asked to stand down.
It is believed that Sevilla coach, Juande Ramos, has been lined up to take the place of Jol. In the meantime, coach Clive Allen is taking charge for this weekends Premier League clash with Blackburn.
