Mark Hughes set to be the next manager to leave his post
17th December, 2009
Last night saw Manchester City and Tottenham play at White Hart Lane which ended in a very disappointing 3-0. The result for Tottenham kept Spurs fifth in the table with Harry Redknapp reporting, “Tonight we were the better side, there is no disputing that.”
The poor result from Manchester City came after defender Joleon Lescott was out of the game due to knee surgery carried out last week. City continued to fall behind and the result was not taken lightly by the team, with striker Robinho storming off after he was substituted.
The defeat causes additional stress to Mark Hughes job, that is already vulnerable as he has watched his side draw over half of their matches this season. Whilst they have managed to prove a challenge to most clubs, they have only mustered one win out of their last 10 games, forcing online bookies Sky Bet to cut Hughes odds to 6/1 (from 10/1) to be the next manager to leave his post.
A spokesman from Sky Bet explained, “The run-up to the New Year could easily decide Mark Hughes’ future. They have Sunderland, Stoke and Wolves to play before the turn of the year and three victories would put City’s Premier campaign right back on track whereas a further loss of ground on the top four could see Hughes’ time at Eastlands come to an abrupt end.”
Potential managers that have been priced with Sky Bet to replace Hughes if he does go include, Guss Hiddink at 5/2 favourite and Jose Mourinho backed at 6/1. For more odds on this market visit Sky Bet and if you sign up today get yourself a FREE £10 bet!
