Man City approach Scolari

Reports today suggest that Manchester City have approached Luiz Felipe Scolari in an attempt to bring him to Eastlands to make him the new manager of the club.

City are expected to sack current manager Sven-Goran Eriksson at the end of the season, after club owner Thaksin Shinawatra admitted last week that he did not expect the Swede to be in charge next season.

The Brazilian coach is currently leading the Portugese national side, and a deal worth £3.2m a year is reported to be used to lure him from his job. It would be expected that he first completes the Euro 2008 campaign, while Eriksson leads City on their post-season tour of Thailand and Hong Kong next week.

Nothing is official yet, and it is business as usual for Eriksson and his coaching team until they hear otherwise. Shinawatra is expected to face a fan’s backlash should he get rid of the coach which led the team to a double over Manchester United, and even broke into the top four at the early stages of the season.
