Liverpool vs. Lyon Online Betting Odds
4th November, 2009
Liverpool travel to France to take on Lyon in the Champions League in a must win match for Rafael Benitez’s team.
If the Reds are defeated tonight their aspirations of a sixth European title will be pretty much be put on hold for another year.
Lyon beat the Merseysiders 2-1 at Anfield a fortnight ago which has left them in third place in Group E. With only one victory from three games so far, obtaining qualification to the knock out stages will be very challenging.
Liverpool heads into the match in consistent form as they are coming off a 3-1 Premier League defeat at Fulham this past weekend. This was after an impressive 2-0 victory over bitter rivals Manchester United.
The Spanish boss also has numerous injury problems and has just been given the news that Glen Johnson and Fabio Aurelio are both suffering from calf injuries. Already injured was influential skipper Steven Gerrard, Albert Riera, Martin Skrtel and Martin Kelly.
Star striker Fernando Torres has travelled even though he is carrying an injury to his groin. Summer signing Alberto Aquilani has recovered from a virus.
Benitez has dismissed recent criticism and is determined to remain in charge of Liverpool. He told BBC Sport "I'm very pleased to be here and I wish to be here for a long time".
He also added that "The players are strong enough for this challenge. The mentality is good, and they are determined to win."
To win the match tonight Liverpool is 21/10 with Bluesq. Lyon is 29/20 with Canbet while the draw is 12/5 with William Hill.
