Liverpool v Chelsea Champions League Preview

22nd April, 2008

For the third time in four seasons, Chelsea will meet Liverpool in the Champions League semi-finals. After progressing to the final on the last two occasions at Chelsea’s expense, the Blues will be looking to exact revenge on the experience Liverpool side.

This match up slightly favours Chelsea this time, with the crucial second leg be to be played at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have a formidable record at home and Liverpool will be well aware of this, looking to give themselves a healthy advantage to take into the second leg.

Liverpool go into the match as substantial favourites to take at least a goal advantage to the away leg, at odds of 5/4 with Better Bet. The draw is relatively short at 2/1 with a majority of bookmakers, and surprisingly this may represent some value. Chelsea are 5/2 with Bet 365 to take a lead back home, which would surely see them through.

A lot of pressure has been put on Torres and Gerrard for Liverpool for goals, and they are 6/4 and 9/4 respectively to score at any time. Lampard has been declared as fit and the 11/1 on offer for him to score first will tempt many. Find all these odds and more using our odds comparison service.
