Lampard will start contract talks with Chelsea
22nd May, 2008
England and Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has announced that he will hold talks with his club over his contract after returning from England duty at the beginning of June.
The 29-year-old has reportedly been unsettled at the club since the departure of Jose Mourinho, and has recently been linked with Inter Milan. Lampard’s contract will run out next summer, and Chelsea will be keen to tie him down.
Talks over the new contract had been postponed until the end of the season, and now Lampard hopes that the two sides can reach an agreement to keep him at the club: "I hope we can come to a conclusion. I am pretty confident we can. I have said that many times before."
According to our odds comparison service, Chelsea are 5/2 to win the Premier League next season, with United favourites at just better than evens.
