Knee operation puts Woods out of action
16th April, 2008
Tiger Woods has had a third operation on his troublesome left knee that is set to put him out of action for up to six weeks. The world number one came second at the Masters last weekend, and will not be able to attempt to defend his Wachovia Championship title in early May.
A statement on his official website said: ""I made the decision to deal with the pain and schedule the surgery for after the Masters."
"The upside is that I have been through this process before and know how to handle it.
"I look forward to working through the rehabilitation process and getting back to action as quickly as I can."
Woods had the knee operated on originally to remove a benign tumour in 1994, and then had arthroscopic surgery in December 2002, which is similar to this operation. Despite the surgery, he will remain huge favourite for all the majors, and is 6/4 with Paddy Power for the US Open according to our odds comparison service.
