20th July, 2009

Conduit, winner of the 2008 Breeders' Cup Turf, tops the list of five day entries for Saturday's King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes.

The 12f Group 1 contest, staged at Ascot and won in the past by the likes of Dancing Brave and Nashwan, has attracted a select field of 11 in which trainer Sir Michael Stoute appears to hold a strong hand.

Conduit, currently trading as the 2/1 favourite with the sponsors Betfair, looks likely to be joined in the £1,000,000 showpiece by stablemate Tartan Bearer; the latter seeking to go one better than when runner-up to Vision d'Etat over 10f in the Prince of Wales's Stakes six weeks ago at the Royal meeting.

The Ballymacoll Stud-owned duo are set to be taken on by Aidan O'Brien's Golden Sword, currently 9/2 antepost favourite with Paddy Power for the Ladbrokes St Leger, while the Ballydoyle maestro is also due to saddle Frozen Fire.

Stoute's recent Coronation Cup winner Ask, 2008 Oaks heroine Look Here and the Luca Cumani-trained Cima De Triomphe are other notables to feature at the latest declaration stage.
