Khan To Fight Marquez In The USA
25th January, 2010
Bolton born, WBA World light-welterweight champion boxer, Amir Khan, thinks that the perfect way to begin his career in the USA would be to fight Juan Manuel Marquez. Bookmakers sky bet have priced Khan’s odds of beating the Mexican at 4/6 with Marquex 11/10 with the draw at 25/1.
Sky Bet’s boxing betting spokesman Scott Springgay said: “Khan seems unlikely to face Maidana but will go for a bigger name in America to boost his profile. A victory over Marquez will do exactly that. This will be Khan’s toughest test yet but under Freddie Roach I can see him taking the ageing Marquez the distance and winning by a clear decision.”
If the British boxing star does land his dream fight against Marquez it could spoil Ricky Hatton’s chances of fighting him when he returns to the ring later on this year. Sky Bet make Hatton the 11/10 outsider against Marquez (8/11, drawn fight 25/1) if the bout is to take place at some point this year.
