Jockeys race now level

8th November, 2007

With 185 wins for each rider and just 3 days to go, tensions are high as Seb Sanders and Jamie Spencer go head to head to battle it out for the jockeys' title.

Both jockeys are riding today, with Spencer's meetings taking place in Musselburgh and Wolverhampton and Sanders at Dunstall Park.

However, before the races even take place there is an even more crucial point - an inquiry at the British Horseracing Authority to decide whether the disqualified win by Sanders where Spencer was promoted to first place was justified. Riding Classic Decent, Sanders, who rides regularly for Newmarket trainer, Sir Mark Prescott, was bumped and Spencer on Black Rain took first place. If the decision goes in Sanders favour, then the title will be one step closer.

Having never won a Professional championship, Sanders is desperate to add it to his Champion Apprentice title. Spencer (the Baby Faced Assassin) won the jockeys title two years ago.
