Jimmy Bullard Injured!

8th December, 2009

Hull City’s influential midfielder Jimmy Bullard has found out the knee ligament damage he sustained on Saturday against Aston Villa is not as serious as initially feared and is likely to be out for six to eight weeks.

Bullard landed awkwardly after a challenge for the ball after 19 minutes and had to wait for a scan on Monday which revealed how much damage Hull City’s £5m record signing had occurred.

The 31 year old former Fulham and Wigan player only returned from a nine month injury to his other knee in October. Since then Bullard’s performances have been inspirational as he went onto capture the November Premier League Player of the Month award. Hull went undefeated in the four League games they played in November since Bullard’s return.

The Tigers boss Phil Brown will be very disappointed with the loss, as Hull is caught in the relegation battle at the bottom end of the league. Brown would have wanted Bullard’s fighting spirit for the very important upcoming Christmas programme.

Brown told Sky Sports that "Jimmy is going to be out between six and eight weeks, a totally separate injury to anything he has had before. It is a grade 2 sprain on his medial ligament; it is not connected with anterior cruciate ligament. Whichever way you look - on the negative front we are losing a very good player for six weeks, but on the other side it could have been a lot longer.”

To avoid relegation from the Premier League this season Hull City is 7/4 with ToteSport.
