Immelman Wins US Masters 2008

14th April, 2008

Trevor Immelman has won the opening major tournament of the season with a three-stroke win at the US Masters at Augusta.

The South African just about kept his nerve to hold off a challenge from the second-placed Tiger Woods, who will regret not taking his chances as he missed a number of putts on his final round of 72. Immelman managed to win despite shooting his worst round of the week, a three-over-par 75, which saw him finish on eight-under-par.

He had led overnight by two strokes, but the pressure seemed to get to the likes of Steve Flesch and Brandt Snedeker who were both expected to put some pressure on the second-ever South African winner. Many of the big names struggled, and none of our tipped golfers in our free golf betting tips ever really threatened.

Before the start of the tournament, Immelman could have been snapped up for odds as high as 204/1, with a £10 stake returning over £2000 according to our free live odds comparison service.
