How Many Pints Of Guinness Will Be Drunk At Cheltenham?
5th March, 2010
There are many bets that can be placed at one of the most important horse racing event of the year, the Cheltenham festival. This includes novelty bets such as how many pints of Guinness will be poured at the event.
Guinness has become synonymous with the festival, similarly to strawberries and cream are to the Wimbledon Championships. Guinness’ involvement with the festival began over 17 years ago when they sponsored the Championship Bumper and had the Guinness Village.
The Guinness village has become a destination in its own right drawing crowds of thousands to sip the black stuff whilst enjoying music and racing.
In the early years of Guinness’ presence at the races, approximately 20,000 pints were consumed daily at the three day event. In later years with higher spectator footfall and a longer day to enjoy the racing more people enjoyed the Guinness Cheltenham experience.
Over 175,000 pints of the popular Irish tipple were drunk in 2008 and over 200,000 in 2009. But how many pints will be pulled in 2010? Check Paddy Power for the latest odds.
