Holloway leaves Plymouth

21st November, 2007

Ian Holloway has today resigned from the manager post at Championship club Plymouth. It is widely expected that Leicester City chairman Milan Mandaric has lined him up to take over their vacant manger role. Both clubs have recently moved to deny the claims, but the move seems set to fill gap left by Gary Megson.

Holloway has had a good stint at Plymouth since joining in the summer of 2006, guiding them to seventh spot in the Championship table. Taking the new job will see him working with the side currently occupying 17th in the table.

A statement on the clubs official website said: "Plymouth Argyle confirm that Ian Holloway has tendered his resignation as manager of the club," the club has convened a board meeting for Friday this week where this will be considered. In the meantime, Ian continues to be employed by the club and subject to the terms of his contract of employment. No further comment will be made pending the board meeting this Friday."

Leicester have seen odds for the drop lengthen (12/1 at Paddy Power) as Holloway would be expected to help them avoid relegation by some margin. More impressively, Paddy Power have priced both Leicester City and Plymouth at 50/1 to win the Championship, despite the fact there are 10 places between them at the moment.
