Heskey Faces Six Weeks On The Sidelines

17th September, 2007

Emile Heskey could miss England’s next Euro 2008 qualifiers with a broken foot. He faces up to six weeks on the sidelines after scans showed a cracked bone in his right foot. It will be a major blow to the striker who has just earned himself a recall to the England squad, giving two convincing performances that has seen his popularity rise tremendously among England fans.

He was injured in Wigan’s 1-1 draw with Fulham on Saturday in an innocuous challenge where Heskey rolled his ankle. Wigan chairman Dave Whelan said he will not feature in England’s next fixture against Estonia on October 13th. "It is bad luck, we are all aware of that," Whelan said. "We were shocked yesterday. He just jumped up in the air and came down on his ankle. To do that is such bad luck, bad for Wigan, bad for England." Wigan are 15/8 to be relegated with Bet Direct.
