Haye is “delusional” says Maccarinelli
29th February, 2008
Ahead of their March 9th cruiserweight unification meeting, Enzo Maccarinelli has called David Haye "delusional" to think he can beat him. Haye, from London, has said he can beat Maccarinelli, from Swansea, inside a minute of round one.
The WBC and WBA title-holder also claims that he has fought at a higher level than his WBO belt-holding opponent. Both boxers are 27 years old and have each lost one of their preview fights.
It has been billed as likely to be one of the most explosive domestic fight since Eubank vs Bess in 1993, and promoter Frank Warren is confident of selling out the 18,000 seat O2 area.
Bet 365 are giving odds of 8/13 to the clear favourite Haye, and 6/5 for the underdog Maccarinelli.
The odds are level for either boxer to win by decision or technical decision, however the bookies think Haye is likely to have the better of the earlier rounds, with Maccarinelli proving stonger the longer the fight goes on, according to our odds comparison service.
