Hatton Fired-Up for Mayweather Fight

29th November, 2007

It is now only ten day to go until the ‘superfight’ when Ricky ‘The Hitman’ Hatton and Floyd Mayweather will face off at the MGM Grand.

Both boxers have come out protesting their confidence in the run-up to the fight, with neither fighter willing to give an inch.

Hatton told Sky Sports News: "You'll notice my demeanor hasn't changed just because it's Floyd Mayweather - I'm just as confident for this fight as I've been for my other fights.”

“I dreamt of becoming a world champion and I've done that four times, and I became the No.1 light-welterweight in the world when I beat Kostya Tszyu.

"I never thought I'd topple that but it looks like I'm going to on December 8 - to beat the best fighter in your weight division is one thing, but to beat the best fighter in any weight division - it doesn't need me to tell you how fired up I am."

Mayweather is equally as confident, and possibly more justifiably after his victory over Oscar de la Hoya in May to claim his fifth world championship belt at different weights.

He said: "I can fight on the inside and on the outside, I've displayed my skills over and over again. I'm not worried about no fighter - I know what I'm capable of doing. I've been in with big punchers, smart boxers, brawlers.” "I can adapt to any style, that's what makes me different from any other fighter. My game plan is just to be Floyd Mayweather."

Mayweather and Hatton odds are beginning to shorten as the fight nears, with Mayweather the favourite at about 8/15, and Hatton prices at 6/4 with Ladbrokes.
