Guinness Premiership mid Point

9th January, 2009

At this half way point of the title is still wide open, with the top three teams trying to pull away from the rest of the table. London Irish have enjoyed some amazing form this year, and hope to continue this form as they travel to Sale tonight.

However last year’s table toppers, Gloucester, is not giving up easy and is only 2 points below. Even with their current form though, bookies seem to believe with home advantage Sale are the likely victors.

Bet365

  • Sale 4/7 Draw 18/1 London Irish 11/8

The other games see London Wasps travel to the Recreation Ground, Northampton playing hosts to Leicester Tigers and Gloucester make their way up north to play Newcastle.

Most bookies have this weekend’s games going in favour of the inform teams. Unfortunately for the likes of Bristol, Newcastle and Worcester it looks like it will be another week before they win.

One question on fans minds is will Wasps carry through last week’s form against Harlequins into tomorrow’s game against Bath. Without home advantage and Bath aiming to bounce back after their narrow loss to Leicester, the task seems a tall order.

The odds seem staked against especially with Tom Rees out and Hugo Ellis stepping in, to win only his second start this season. Another targeted aspect of Wasp’s game will be fly half Danny Cipriani, who’s kicking has consistently caused him problems.

Betfair

  • Bath as 0.28/1 favourites, with Wasps at 1.3/1 underdogs.
