Guinness Premiership Semi Final Weekend
8th May, 2009
The Guinness Premiership playoffs kick off this weekend with last year’s runner up Leicester welcoming rival Bath in the first of the semi finals.
The second semi final takes place at Twickenham Stoop with Harlequins facing London Irish. It’s the first time Quins have reached the Premiership semi final, and bookies believe they are likely to make it to the final.
Harlequins finished the season in second place on the table behind Leicester after having an impressive season, making it through to the quarter finals of the Heineken Cup and Final of the EDF Energy Cup. However fans will desperately hope they can cap off a good season with some silver ware
England and Harlequins scrum-half, Danny Care, stated that “the game will be very tough, with both teams being so near to each other, the players know each other quite well.”
Sky Bet makes both home teams, Leicester and Harlequins as favourites to win a place in the final, with the Tigers 2/5 favourites and Quins at 2/3.
