General Election Debate 2010 Odds

13th April, 2010

Paddy Power is famous for their fantastic novelty bets and they certainly don’t disappoint in their election betting markets. In true paddy power style they have been one of the first online bookmakers to chalk up odds on the first live election debate.

The bookmaker makes David Cameron evens to win this week’s live debate with Nick Clegg at 2/1 and Gordon Brown 5/2. This is a pretty standard market of which many bookies will follow suit; however they also offer specials which specifically relate to the debate.

Paddy Power is offering a market for the first politician to noticeably perspire and will settle bets when the first party leader is shown with either perspiration on his face or visible sweat patches under his arms. They clearly think that Nick Clegg is a rather sweaty man as he is at odds of 11/10 favourite with Cameron at 6/4 and Gordon Brown at 3/1.

Odds have also been released on what will be the first election debate rule to be broken, with applauding and booing at the head of the market at 11/8 and 7/4 odds respectively. Heckling and cheering is at 4/1 and 9/2 with the most rewarding of bets being at 50/1 for someone to remove their clothes and to streak across the stage, which would certainly liven up proceedings!

The first debate will be aired at 8.30pm on 15th April on ITV1.
