Fu comes back to defeat O’Sullivan
27th March, 2008
Ronnie O’Sullivan has joined the list of early causalities in the China Open, beaten from behind 5-4 by Marco Fu. The Englishman had led 4-3 and led in the deciding frame, but missed a crucial blue that gifted the win to his opponent.
O’Sullivan follows a number of former world champions including Graeme Dott, Steve Davis and Stephen Hendry out of the tournament. Amongst the big names that secured their place in the second round include Shaun Murphy, Peter Ebdon, Mark Williams and John Higgins.
World number one and current world champion John Higgins progressed to the next round without making a single break over 50, and so finds himself second favourite to take the China Open title, at 5/1. Maguire is on good form and is the current favourite, at best odds of 9/2 according to our odds comparison service.
