Foch vs. Dirrell Online Betting Odds
16th October, 2009
Carl Froch the WBC super-middleweight champion has insisted that he will defeat American Andre Dirrell when the two meet on Saturday night in Nottingham. Both fighters are unbeaten and will be aiming to get their first victory in the Super Six World Boxing Classic.
Froch has been world champion since defeating Canadian Jean Pascal in December last year. Since then the Cobra made a successful first defence against the U.S.A’s former undisputed middleweight champion Jermain Taylor. Froch knocked Taylor out in the final round in Connecticut back in April.
The 32 year old told BBC Sport "He's coming to Nottingham to take the WBC title home with him, and it's my job to make sure he doesn't."
Froch added: "He's got a big mouth, he's talking a lot of trash, but we don't actually know what he's got. He's an Olympic medallist, he's coming over and obviously wants to follow on that form."
During the Super Six series it will be Froch and Mikkel Kessler the WBA champion from Denmark who will put their world titles on the line. In the first round of matches Kessler will take on Andre Ward, while German Arthur Abraham will clash with Froch victim Jermain Taylor.
The tournament is formatted so each fighter will have three contests over the next year. The four leading point scorers from the first phase will meet in the semi-finals before the final is contested in the early part of 2011.
Carl Froch is 4/7 to win on Saturday night with Betfred while Andre Dirrell is 8/5 with sporting bet. To win the tournament outright Mikkel Kessler is the favourite at 9/4 with a range of bookmakers.
