Fernando Alonso signs with Ferrari

After a lot of speculation, it has been confirmed that Fernando Alonso will leave Renault and join Ferrari and has signed a reported 3 year contract worth £55 million, with the option to renew for one more year when it reaches the end of the contract.

The 28 year old will leave Renault at the end of the current campaign to partner Felipe Massa and Alonso has revealed that he is excited for his ‘dream to come true’, he went on to explain, “I’m very proud to become a Ferrari driver”.

Formula One betting specialists at Sky Bet are offering a lot of odds on how the champion will settle in sat behind a new wheel. Sky bet are offering 100/30 that Alonso will steal the title at the opening race of next season and he is priced at 7/2, making him second favourite to win, behind Lewis Hamilton. Other odds include 8/11 that the driver will collect 100 points and 8/1 that he finishes each race with points.

Fernando Alonso will be replacing Kimi Raikkonen, who is rumoured to be returning to McLaren once the Alonso settles in his place and is backed at 5/1 to steal the title of world champion next season.

Fernando Alonso is priced at 7/2 to win the Drivers Championship title, whilst team mate Felipe Massa, who is hopeful to return in 2010, is backed at 13/2 with Sky Bet.
