Federer to win the US Open Online Betting Odds
1st September, 2009
Swiss tennis legend, Roger Federer is getting ready to chase a record sixth straight U.S Open title at Flushing Meadows.
The current world number one is looking to increase his number of grand slam victories to 16 after beating Pete Sampras’ record of 14 at Wimbledon in July.
Federer is coming into this year’s U.S Open in much different circumstances in comparison to last year. So far in 2009, Federer has captured his first Roland Garros title and recaptured the Wimbledon crown he lost to Rafael Nadal in 2008. Last year, the man from Basle, failed to win any of the three other Grand Slams leading up to the U.S Open for the first time since 2002.
Federer told Sky Sports "I'm just more relaxed this time," he commented. "I've already won slams this year. That takes away pressure from having to do well here, like the feeling I had last year, not having won a slam last year, trying to get the first one. This year is different. I feel like I'm playing great. That gives me obviously a lot of confidence and relaxes my mind."
No men’s tennis player has held the French Open, Wimbledon and U.S. Open at the same time since the 1920’s, when American Bill Tilden achieved the feat. Federer’s quest started on Monday with a first round 6-1 6-3 7-5 victory over 18 year old American wild card, Devin Britton.
Roger Federer is 6/5 to retain his U.S Open crown with Sporting bet.
