F1 Grand Prix Betting Preview
9th October, 2008
The F1 season has been full of drama this year and the Singapore night race continued this thrilling season in F1 racing. Ferrari has and nightmare weekend with both their drivers Felipe Massa and Kimi Räikkönen finishing outside the points places. Raikkonen struggled all weekend however teammate Massa looked comfortable in the early stages of the race after qualifying in pole position.
Hamilton who started 2nd on the grid found it difficult to keep up with the Brazilian, however when the safety car was brought out the gap was decreased to only a few seconds. Both drivers then pulled into the pits for one of the most dramatic and pivotal stops of the season. Massa fuel pump was left attached to his car after he had been given the green light to pull away and continue the race.
Massa ended up having to stop further down the pit lane to wait for the engineers to run down and haul the pump of the back of the car. This cost Massa the race after he rejoined at the back of the field. Hamilton continued and finished in a comfortable third place. Renault driver, and past champion Alonso took the win.
This weekend's race will once again be keenly contested by Ferrari and McLaren, and Hamilton will be determined to increase his 7 point gap over rival Massa.
Favorite is Hamilton priced at 6/4 with bet365 - A win for Hamilton would bring him extremely close to winning his first F1 champion of his career. He should comfatbly finish either 1st or second.
Massa is 2/1 with both bookies to be first across the checkered flag. He has driven extremely well in the past 3 races and should have won in Singapore. He is quicker than Hamilton at the moment and has a great chance of winning in Japan.
Räikkönen has had a poor season but the current champion will be hoping to finish his season on a high. His car has been poor, but if his team can improve this he is one of the most experienced drivers in the field and has a great chance of winning - 13/1 bet 24.
