Euro 2008 Final - Betting tips and Preview

27th June, 2008

The stage is set for the 2008 European Championship final after Spain booked their place in Vienna by easing past Russia 3-0 last night.

All the goals came in the second half with Xavi scoring on 50 minutes and substitute Daniel Guiza adding a second on 73 minutes. The Spanish completed their win when Silva converted Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas's inch perfect cross. The Russian's where simply outclassed by the movement and skill of the Spanish midfield and forwards. They now meet Germany in Vienna on Sunday night for the final.

Spain have been notoriously poor in pass major tournaments having last won the Euros in 1964, and losing in the 1984 final to France. Therefore they will desperately be looking to please their fans who have waited long time for success in a major tournament.

This is a hard one to call! Simply betting on either team winning will not win you much as they are both seen as pretty equal. So we suggest looking into specific score lines and goal scorers. David Villa came off injured in the game against Russia and, as a result, will miss the final. Fellow Spanish danger man, Fernando Torres, who was extremely unlucky to score in last night is priced at a decent 5/1 by Bet Direct. German forward Podolski is priced by Bet 365 at a reasonable 15/2 to score first considering his excellent form.

Each team are held at 9/1 to win on penalties by Totesport which is not a bad price considering the numerous penalty shootouts already taken place in this championship.
