England vs. South Africa Test series

15th December, 2009

This Wednesday sees England head to South Africa for a much wanted Test series and bookies are eager for England to record an ODI and Test double. Last year saw South Africa take the lead stealing the four-match Test series in England 2-1.

A spokesman from Sky Bet explained, “It will be a huge achievement if England can come away from South Africa with victory in both the one-day and the Test series but with James Anderson still struggling with a slight injury and Ryan Sidebottom only just coming back into action, the England bowlers may struggle to take 20 wickets in a match.”

The England captain Andrew Strauss admitted that playing James Anderson in the first Test is extremely risky. Anderson bowled 15 overs at Buffalo Park recently but has since struggled due to an injury to his knee. Andrew Strauss continued to say, “There is an element of risk, but a small one. Even when his knee has been hurting quite a lot, it still hasn’t prevented him from bowling.”

If you fancy a bet on England winning then Victor Chandler are offering the best odds of 3/1 to win the Test outright, with South Africa priced at 4/6 with Sky Bet.

More odds that Sky Bet is offering include the best run scorer in Wednesday’s match and the online bookies are backing Paul Collingwood at 15/2. Collingwood has managed to take the title of leading runs scorer in the recent ODI series, recording 193 runs from 3 innings.

The match will be shown on Sky Sports 1 from 8pm on the 16th December. If you fancy placing a bet then why not visit Sky Bet and see what else they have to offer?
