England vs. Argentina Rugby betting odds

12th November, 2009

England’s last game saw them give the game away to the Qantas Wallabies with a final score of 18-9 having been a close 9-5 at half time. The Wallabies returned to the pitch in the second half with determination and perseverance and were able to steal an easy win.

This Saturday sees England take on Argentina and due to their last weekend’s defeat, manager Martin Johnson has decided to make a few alterations to the team to perfect the final line up.

It has been revealed that Duncan Bell will be making his first appearance for England since 2005 after David Wilson sustained a neck and shoulder injury in the game against Australia. James Haskell was able to prove himself last Saturday and has grabbed himself a place in the starting team, replacing Jordan Crane, who was a risky choice in the last game anyway as he is one of the least experienced forwards having only two caps, and finally Hooker Dylan Hartley will be covering Steve Thompson.

It was clear that changes had to be made to the squad and after comments and observations of performance were noted from the last game, these decisions were made. Johnson explained, “Steve played well last week but Dylan is obviously a dynamic ball-carrier and I’m looking forward to seeing him out there, you also know what you get with James. It is a big opportunity for him to play at number eight. It was hard to decide with Crane, but I felt that it was important to integrate him back into the team.”

It seems that Johnson is not too worried about the game on Saturday despite it being very important as they are scheduled to meet with New Zealand after Argentina. Johnson went on to say, “This is a big game, we have to improve on Saturday but we are fully capable of that and have strength in depth.”

It is times like this that having such a stable captain is crucial. It is essential that the team is moulded to support one another and with the team line up for Saturday’s match, it looks as though this could be a victory for England, which would stand them in good stead for New Zealand.
