Eduardo wants to make swift recovery
25th February, 2008
Eduardo has spoken out for the first time since suffering his horrendous injury against Birmingham on Saturday. The Arsenal striker was the victim of a clumsy challenge by Martin Taylor that saw him suffer a double compound fracture of his leg.
The injury was so bad that television officials could not show the image on live television, with players on the pitch clearly affected. It took 8 minutes of medical help to get him onto a stretcher and off the pitch to hospital.
Eduardo commented: "All I remember is that when I fell, I looked down at my foot and it had turned the other way. The rest is just a blank."
"My concentration is on making as quick a recovery as possible. I am determined to overcome this injury."
"It was an unfortunate situation but these things can happen in football," Eduardo added.
"I would like to say how touched I am by the many messages of support I have received and to be surrounded by my loved ones at this time."
The injury will see him out for the rest of the season, and miss Croatia’s Euro 2008 campaign.
