David Beckham to return to AC Milan?

12th October, 2009

Italian giants, A.C Milan, has stated that it is highly likely that former England captain David Beckham will return to the Rossoneri on loan, once the January transfer window opens.

The Los Angeles Galaxy star enjoyed a loan spell there last season during the American Major League off-season.

Adriano Galliani the Milan vice president told BBC Sport, "It's very probable that Beckham will come on loan until 30 June”

The main reason why Beckham went there was to prove to England manager Fabio Capello that he could still compete at the highest level and force his way into the Three Lions squad. Beckham, who has already secured 114 caps for his country is desperate to play in next summer’s World Cup finals in South Africa.

Tim Leiweke, chief of AEG who owns the Galaxy's also told BBC Sport, "We want to get a deal done for him and for us. David was probably saying a little bit more than he should but he is right, we're going to get something done and we're going to take care of him," added Leiweke. He's a class act, a great player and I'm proud of what he's doing with the national team. If David's not playing over here [in Europe] in January, he's not going to be on the national team during the World Cup. So we would be honoured to do that again if it helps David because we want to make sure he fulfils that dream."

To win the 2010 FIFA World Cup England are 7/1 with Coral. To win the 2009/10 Italian Serie- A championship A.C Milan is 45/1 with Betfair.
