Coventry vs. Newcastle United online betting odds

9th December, 2009

Tonight sees Coventry entertain Newcastle and bookies are certain of the winners. Newcastle travel with hope to gain 3 points which would set them 7 points ahead of second place West Bromwich Albion and having shown some great performances over their last few games it looks as though they will steal a win in tonight’s game.

In comparison, Coventry has had an unfortunate run of games and has not been able to secure a win from their last 5 games at home and have only managed to keep one clean sheet at home this year. The Sky Blues are sitting in a dangerous 20th position on the table just 2 points ahead of the relegation zone. In addition, City also has several injured players and a few suspensions which will restrict the manager’s line up for tonight’s game.

The bookies appear to be backing Newcastle to win tonight’s game with Ladbrokes offering the best price of 10/11 that they do. Online bookies Coral is offering the best price for Coventry to win at 7/2.

Whilst Newcastle look a safe bet in this game, it is worth noting that it is not often that Newcastle concede more than is needed and have a habit of winning by only one goal so it could be a risk to bet on a large goal difference, but if you do fancy it Newcastle are priced at 12/1 with Ladbrokes to win 3-0 and shorter odds of 7/1 to beat City 2-0.

It seems that the recent bad run for Coventry is beginning to take its toll on the atmosphere amongst both players and fans and hosting a team that has won six consecutive games in the league is sure to only make things worse. Coventry is priced at 11/2 with Bet 365 to win 1-0, whilst a draw is backed at 7/1 also with Bet 365.

Coventry is not a bad team but with their current underperforming state it would seem that we should expect nothing more than a Newcastle United victory.
