Cipriani out for six months with ankle injury

19th May, 2008

England fly-half Danny Cipriani has been ruled out for six months and will miss England’s tour of New Zealand after he sustained a fracture dislocation of his right ankle on Sunday.

The 20-year-old injured himself during the Guinness Premiership semi-final against Bath on Sunday, when he was trapped at the bottom of a ruck. He was given oxygen, stretchered off and rushed to hospital. Wasps also has Tom Voyce taken to hospital after a dislocated shoulder could not be put back in by medical staff at the ground.

Wasps went on to win the game 21-10 and will be one half of the Guinness Premiership final, playing against Leicester. They beat Gloucester 26-25 with an injury time drop goal putting them through to the May 31st final.
