Cheltenham Festival - McCoy Rulings
26th February, 2008
The Cheltenham Festival is next month and Tony McCoy is still unsure as to whether he will be allowed to complete.
The 12-time champion jockey suffered a fall in January where he severely damaged his back and then recieved extensive treatment for the injury including Kriotherapy, which involves going into temparatures as low as minus 135 degrees.
Due to his ongoing success throughout his career, if deemed fit to race, he will be one of the bookies' favourites.
The decision lies directly on Dr Michael Turner, the chief medical officer for the British Horseracing Association, who will review the reports made by McCoy's own specialist. It is starting to look promising for the jockey though, who has said that he is confident he can be back in the saddle in just a week.
