Chelsea v Tottenham - Carling Cup Final Odds and Preview
22nd February, 2008
The long awaited final of the Carling Cup will be held this weekend at 4.00pm on Sunday.
The Carling Cup is the first big final of the year with the FA Cup and Champions League still under way. Wembley will host the contest between rivals, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
In the 18 years preceeding us Tottenham have only beaten Chelsea a total of two times. Tottenham's recent form has been encouraging though and with their January signings, Woodgate and Huttonm, as well as the players coming up through the ranks in the club, they have high hopes to make it three wins in 18 years. To get to this stage Spurs beat Arsenal 5-1 in the semi-final so why not beat another of teh biggest clubs in the Premiership.
Unfortunately for Spurs Chelsea are also in as good a form as ever, having not lost in fifteen matches in all competitions. The last time Chelsea played Spurs was towards the beginning of the Avram Grant era where they won 2-0. With Frank Lampard and John Terry back to full fitness and back in form they will be expecting a win, moving them closer to Arsenal who currently lie 8 points ahead of them.
As of today the bookie's favourites to lift the cup are, obviously, Chelsea with odds of 21/20 (Centrebet). Tottenham, in their great new form are priced at 12/5 (VC Bet).
