Celtic v Rangers Betting, Preview and Odds

16th April, 2008

The Old Firm Derby usually throws up a few surprises, and Celtic will have to upset the form books if they are to challenge for a third successive Scottish Premier League title.

Rangers currently sit four points above them with two games in-hand, and a win here would give them an almost assailable lead. Rangers are already 1/8 to win the SPL with most bookies, and even as far as 1/10 with some. Celtic on the other hand are generally around 5/1 to get their third title in as many seasons.

For the match tonight, Celtic’s home advantage has put them as clear favourites to take all three points at 6/5 with Betfred, whilst the draw (11/5) is also at similar odds to a Rangers win (7/4). There may be some value in backing Celtic to win the SPL with a view to laying it back after tonight for a profit.
